Alex Gray | percussion artistic director, instructor, & Arranger
Alex Gray has been studying percussion technique and performance since 1999. He has been involved in a variety of different ensembles in Southern California, including the Brea-Olinda High School Percussion Ensemble (WGI Finalists), the University of Redlands Percussion Ensemble, Incognito Winter Drumline, and Incognito Drum & Bugle Corps. Alex has also performed with numerous Jazz Bands, Wind Ensembles, Concert Bands, Musical Theater Productions, and Operas.
Alex has primarily served Southern California communities as an educator, specializing in marching and concert percussion, including show design and composition. Since 2010, he has served as a Show Designer, Instructor, and Arranger at Redlands High School in Redlands, CA. His music arrangements and instruction has led the percussion and marching band program to many awards in the California State Band Championships (CSBC), the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) and the Winter Guard Association of Southern California (WGASC; formerly the American Drumline Association). Alex has previously been the Percussion Caption Head for Incognito Drum & Bugle Corps, Summit High School, and Sultana High School.
Alex is active clinician, consultant, and judge for the Southern California Percussion Alliance (SCPA) and Winter Guard International (WGI) Sport of the Arts. Alex is a proud member of the Vic Firth & Zildjian Education Team, Percussive Arts Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
When he is not teaching percussion, Alex can be found with his barbecue smoker at his home in Fontana, CA with his wife Jo.
